Congratulations to the New Editors of Teaching English in the Two-Year College!

¥ and the Two-Year College English Association (TYCA) arepleased to announce the selectionof Jessica Nastal and Cheryl Hogue Smith as the incoming editors ofTeaching English in the Two-Year College(TETYC).

The new editors are working toward publishing their first issue in September.Learn about writingڴǰTETYC.

Jessica Nastal(she/they), PhD,comes toTeaching English in the Two-Year College(TETYC)with many years in scholarly editorial work, notably asassociateeditor of theJournal of Writing Assessment,developmentaleditor ofThe Journal of Writing Analytics, andan editorial board member for journals includingAssessing Writing,Composition Studies, andTETYC.Her research focuses on writing pedagogy and response to student writing. With Mya Poe and Christie Toth, Jessica’s coeditedcollectionWriting Placement in Two-Year Colleges: The Pursuit of Equity in Postsecondary Educationwon theCWPA Best Book Award. Jessica is a faculty member at the College of DuPage, where she teaches composition and writing studies classes and is a member of thePromotingCivic Engagement Community of Practice.

 

Cheryl Hogue Smith, PhD, comes toTeaching English in the Two-Year Collegewith experience as a guest coeditor for the special issue on teaching college reading for(TETYC50.2) and as a coeditoroftwo forthcoming volumes about teaching college reading:College Teachers Teaching Reading: Practical Strategies for Postsecondary ReadersandOpen(ing) Access: Equity and Reading. She is apastchair of the Two-Year College English Association (TYCA), a recipient of the TYCA Nell Ann Picket Service Award, and a recipient of the Mark ReynoldsTETYCBest Article Award for “Fractured Reading: Experiencing Students’ Thinking Habits” (TETYC47.1). Her work about teaching college reading andwritingand teaching Shakespeare appears in several journals and edited collections. Cheryl is aprofessor of English and the Faculty Certification Coordinator for the Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum Program at Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York.
